The time required will reduce significantly after the road expansion works are completed. It's about an hours journey to the akkalkot bus stand. From solapur railway station we hired a local auto rickshaw to the state transport bus stand (msrtc) from where solapur akkalkot busses leave every after 30minutes.
It is very convinient if you are traveling with peope above 70years old as getting down at the last stop is never an issue. This temple is maintained by Cholappa family.Devotees in family groups were sitting in the worship hall and performing pooja conducted by priests. There is another premises around 500 m away from this temple inside the town the samadhi temple where the mortail remains of Swami Samarth is said to be placed in rest. The temple is quite small with a small hall yard where visiting devotees sit and sing bhajans. On the way near the temple premises lot of vendor stalls selling prasadh stuffs and other pooja items are operating. Some belongings like seat with cushions said to be used by him are also kept of for darshan.
There is a Vat Vruuksha (Bannyan Tree) under which it is said that he attained his Samadhi.
Swami Samartha Maharaj Temple is very clean and well maintained. Tourist cabs and also state bus are available from Solapur. This temple is located at Akkalkot around 40 Km from Solapur.
